King Regula Reflex 2000 CTL (Prototyp silbern)

Eine tolle Geschichte kann ich heute hier erzählen. Das Foto oben bekam ich gestern von einem Sammlerkollegen geschickt, der über meinen Artikel zur Regula Reflex 2000 CTL vom Februar 2016 gestolpert ist. Dort habe ich kess behauptet, dass es eigentlich nur das eine schwarze Modell der Kamera gibt und alle anderen Versionen (bis auf die Ringfoto oder Kalimar Vertriebsversionen) ins Reich der Mythen gehören. Dazu habe ich auch die silberne bzw. verchromte Version gezählt, die auf der Bedienungsanleitung abgebildet ist (siehe Bild links). 

I can tell a great story here today. I got the photo above yesterday from a collector friend who stumbled upon my post about the Regula Reflex 2000 CTL from February 2016. There I made the breezy statement that there exists only one black model of the camera and that all other versions (except for the Ringfoto or Kalimar distributor branded versions) belong in the realm of myths. I also called the silver or chromium version shown on the operating instructions (see picture on the left) a myth.

Das Foto oben beweist es: Es gibt zumindest diese eine Kamera in silbern, die vermutlich ein früher Prototyp ist. Es gibt nämlich keine eingestanzte Seriennummer, sondern an deren Stelle an der inneren Rückwand lediglich eine eingeritzte "5". Interessant in diesem Zusammenhang auch die Seriennummer des Steinheil-Objektivs, das sich damit nach 1965/1966 datieren lässt (also deutlich vor der eigentlichen Vermarktung der Kamera).

The photo above proves it: There is at least this one camera in chromium finish, which is probably an early prototype. There is no stamped serial number, just a scratched "5" on the inner rear door instead. Also interesting in this context is the serial number of the Steinheil lens, which can be dated to 1965/1966 (i.e. well before the camera was actually marketed).

Aber das Beste kommt noch: Der Kollege hat diesen Prototyp 2009 von einer Dame in Bad Liebenzell (Sitz des ehemaligen Kamerawerkes King&Bauser) geschenkt bekommen als er (erfolglos) dort auf der Suche nach jemandem war, der seine defekte schwarze Regula Reflex reparieren könnte. Glück muss man haben!

But the best is yet to come: The friend received this prototype in 2009 from a lady in Bad Liebenzell (headquarters of the former camera factory King & Bauser) when he was looking there (unsuccessfully) for someone who could repair his defective black Regula Reflex. You have to be lucky!

Ich jedenfalls werde meinen Artikel berichtigen bzw. ergänzen und hoffe auf vielleicht noch mehr Meldungen über andere silberne oder gar andere Varianten der Kamera (wie immer hier unten im Kommentar oder direkt per e-mail an knippsen (at) icloud.com).
